Unbroken #4
Louie has raced in the 1936 olympics in Germany and placed 7th in the 5,000 meter. After his race that night he and his friends went out on the town. He realized that there were more Nazi flags outside and inside buildings. Stores with the star of david on it had their windows smashed. Germany had hidden the Nazi image when the olympics were in town but had gone back to the way it was shortly after the olympics had finished.

I read an article just recently that said that Hitler is the reason that we have all the fuss and ceremony of the Olympics -- that before the Berlin Olympics, they were a far more low-key event. Hitler just wanted to show the world "how great Germany is." Which, sadly, means I'll never watch the opening ceremonies of an Olympics through the same eyes again.
